About Low Income Planning

Low Income Planning is a privately owned educational and referral resource for American families. We publish plain-English guides to the state and federal assistance programs households actually use — and connect people with private-sector partners who can help them apply.

What we do

We cover housing, food, healthcare, cash aid, workforce training, financial planning, insurance, and legal aid. Every guide is written to answer the question a family actually has: am I eligible, what does it pay, and how do I apply?

What we’re not

We are not a government agency. We do not administer benefits. We do not charge families to use this site. Some of the programs we describe are public benefits administered by states and the federal government; others are private services offered by our partners. We disclose which is which.
